Thru generator skipping notes while Prob is at maximum

System

  • NGEN Hardware Version: v1.1 (batch #2)
  • NGEN Firmware Version: v1.3.0
  • Related feature: Thru Generator
  • Connection type: MIDI

Steps

  1. Make a track that generate a recognizable pattern, such as :
  • Set Track 1 to use DRUM GEN generator
  • In Track settings, select any midi out channel you can listen to
  • In Generator settings :
    • Density 1 = 49
    • Density 2, 3 and 4 = 0 // to totally disable other notes
    • Length 1 = 1
    • Note 1 = C1
    • Random = 0
    • Density 1 = 49
  • You should now hear a single repetitive note, round robbin style
  • Now go back to Track settings and :
    • Select any midi out channel you are NOT monitoring
    • Set Aux Out to Track 2
  1. Add a Thru Track and feed it :
  • Set Track 2 to use THRU generator
  • In Track settings, select any midi out channel you can listen to
  • Make sure Prob is at maximum in Generator settings (100/100)
  1. Press play on whatever machine generates clock

Observed

  • With THRU Track disabled, notes still go through and can be monitored/heard from selected Output Channel of Track 2
    • Monitor (from Tools menu) also show these notes as being sent out
    • Interestingly enough, some notes are randomly missing from output (like 1 out of 10 or so)
    • You can reproduce with this project file : FILE_01.HEX
    • See video here
  • With THRU Track enabled, most of notes disappear (only 1/5 or so can be heard)
    • Even though Prob is at maximum in Generator settings (100/100)
    • You can reproduce with this project file : FILE_02.HEX
    • See video here

Expected

  • With THRU Track disabled, no note should be output from that track
  • With THRU Track enabled, all notes should be output, without any missing
