FW 1.4.5 and 1.4.4: Cannot save to eeprom or SD card

Problem:

Eeprom or SD card:

Save as: name file → system hangs with saving screen, no response

Need urgent fix or workaround. Somebody else experiencing same behavior?

Should I switch back to old firmware?
